How often have you found yourself saying, "I wish I had more time in the day!" or "I wish I had more time for myself." ?
We all lead crazy, busy lives and the one thing we never seem to have time for is ourselves.
You can change that by thinking differently. It always goes back to retraining your brain on how you look at things in your life.
"Me" time is not something you should feel guilty about. EVER!
Taking time is for you is nothing more than taking even a small amount of time where you can put aside your everyday business and treat yourself to an activity that you really enjoy.
It gives you an opportunity to relax, refocus and recharge both mentally and physically. The amazing thing about doing this is; when you come back to your responsibilities, it will be with greater focus, commitment, and enjoyment. You will feel less frazzled!
When I Coach people I ask them this question right out of the gate...
Can you look in the mirror and say, "I am the most important thing!" ?
Try it now...I'll wait.... *inserts elevator music*
Did you do it? Was it hard to say? If you were able to say it...
Did it make you feel uncomfortable and did you believe the words you spoke?
Over time this will become easier to say once you start believing it.
But it takes practice. So do it every day until you believe it!
It's true though! You are the most important thing. It's not selfish or conceited to feel this way.
It's actually VERY healthy to think this way!
Without YOU being the best you can be, nothing in your life will run smoothly.
I bet right now you feel overwhelmed, tired, no energy, wishing for more hours in the day, wishing you had just FIVE minutes to yourself.
Repeat after me, "Self love isn't selfish, it's important."
If you are feeling your best and looking your best your entire world will change for the better! You will become more efficient in your life both personally and professionally.
Taking time for yourself has psychological and physical benefits. If you give yourself a break you'll feel refreshed and happier.
Here is what can happen when you make yourself a priority:
You will set a great example to your children.
You will feel less tired and drained.
Your energy levels will soar.
You will feel like you have more time because you are becoming more efficient.
You will have more focus and mental clarity.
You can reduce stress levels.
Your mood will improve.
You can reduce physical pain if you are using your time for exercising.
Reduce your risk of becoming resentful.
Maintain a good sense of self.
You will boost your self-esteem and confidence.
You will feel like you could conquer the world!
Start off with this small challenge...Grab your calendar!
Commit to a minimum of 15 minutes of "me" time every day for one week.
Do something (or nothing) that completely lets go of all responsibilities and allows you to release your mind. Allowing you to be alone with your own thoughts. It's only 15 minutes!
Everybody got time for that!!
Stop wishing you had more time to yourself, and start doing! Whining about not having time will not change anything. It's actually only wasting time that you claim you don't have.
Be proactive and commit to setting 15 minutes per day into your schedule.
You will be amazed at how a little bit of time to yourself can make a
tremendous difference in your health and happiness!
"Wait, wait, Laurie...but what exactly is "me" time?"
