What exactly is health and wellness coaching?

Health coaches educate and support clients to achieve their health goals through lifestyle and behavior adjustments.

My philosophy:

 

Everyone is different. Everyone has different lifestyles, goals, wants,and needs.

 

You won't find me promoting one specific type of "diet", or one specific way of eating. And it won't be bland and boring food either! Being healthy doesn't mean eating salads for the rest of your days.

 

Together, we will find out what will work the fastest and safest way to get you closer to your goals. This program will be specifically designed for YOU.

 

As you continue to grow and make strides forward in your health and wellness journey, you will learn how to change up your food choices, thought process, exercises, and lifestyle.

 

A little bit about what to expect at your first session:

 

Your first session will NOT be used for exercising. This is everyone's biggest mistake when starting a new "healthy" lifestyle. They jump in with both feet, do a vigorous exercise program and then can't walk normal for 2 weeks because they over did it on their first go and are now suffering from DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness).

 

Don't get me wrong, you should feel a little sore when starting a new exercise program...but what good does it do if you can't move for 2 weeks after your first attempt!? All it does is discourage you from doing it again.

 

You will learn more about this in your sessions with me.  

 

The first session is used to assess and determine your general health condition, and what your goals and aspirations are so that I can create a program that will be made specifically for you.   

 

I highly recommend a one hour session for this first visit.  You will be surprised at how fast an hour goes! 

 

Are you really ready to make a change?  Grab a piece of paper and write down your answers to the following questions. Answer them honestly. Don't answer them how you  "think" they should be answered. Answer them truthfully and from the heart. This in an important step in getting started and becoming successful.

 

1. Are you ready to make some changes?

2. What do you really want from this experience and what are you willing to do on a daily basis to more forward towards you goals?

3. Are you willing to commit to exercising 2-3 days per week?

4. Are you willing to plan out some of your meals and do some food prep?

5. Are you willing to be accountable to yourself and your health coach (personal trainer)?

If you answered yes, then you are ready to sign up! Use the book an appointment button and get started.

 

Once this is done, Laurie will be in contact with you within 24 - 48 hours (usually a lot sooner!) to set up your appointments and to have you fill out a PAR-Q form. The PAR-Q will need to be filled out and sent back prior to your first session. 

 

If you answered no, then you have some soul searching left to do and may not be ready to make a change.  Don't feel badly about your answers, look at these questions again and ask yourself WHY you answered no to some of them and jot down your answers in your journal.
